Cuerpo pretérito is an interactive museo-theatrical experience framed in the domian of cultural heritage. It performs a theatre archive by means of photographic and filmic archival material and the material and inmaterial traces of the emblematic 1988 Chilean production «La negra Esther», constructing from these, a new work.

The experience is composed of 43 pieces which include costumes, remains of remains and props from the original production and archives. All of these components serve the interaction between the digitized bodies of the 1988 production and those of the contemporary actors.

Piece 43, the final piece, is conceived as a sequel to the 1988 work. It is a new drama that projects the lives of people of the past into today. The new protagonist is Sandra Barraza, a hairdresser and housewife, who has left behind her life as a prostitute and is living a new story marked by love, death, Chilean democracy and AIDS.
